The Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Foundation and the Omaha World-Herald are excited to announce the 2009 Good Neighbor Award winners from Sarpy County. The award winners have been cited by their neighbors for unselfish and charitable deeds beyond the field of personal gain or welfare, thus exemplifying the good neighbor spirit of the Midwest. They include the following:

Gayla Wood Papillion NE

Gayla has helped her neighbors as they welcomed triplets home. She assists in taking care of them, watching them while the mother picks up the older daughter from school and provided assistance prior to their birth as well.

Regis Picard Bellevue, NE

Regis has helped many of his neighbors by cleaning their gutters, cutting tree limbs, shoveling snow and more.

Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award

The Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Foundation are honored to recognize the JAHN FARM INC. for long and meritorious service to agriculture as exemplified by continued ownership within the family of the same Nebraska farm for 100 years or more. Nebraska has been enriched by the courageous pioneer spirit and loyalty to the land exhibited by members of this family, down through the years. The awards will be presented on Friday July 20, 2009 @ 7:45 prior to the start of the rodeo.
