The 2011 Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award recipients are
Mike Naber, Gretna (Sarpy County)
Mike always makes sure his neighbors’ walks & driveways are shoveled in the winter. He is there to help with everything from helping move a heavy cabinet to letting neighbors borrow items. He always stops to say hi and check in on his neighbors.
Keith & Sharon Anstine Family, Bellevue (Sarpy County)
The Anstine family has all taken turns mowing their neighbor’s yard. In the winter, they’ve helped shovel their neighbor’s driveway and sidewalk. Sharon has baked breads and cakes to bring to their neighbors.
Lawrence & Theresa Rhodus, Bellevue (Sarpy County)
Lawrence & Theresa are exceptional neighbors. Lawrence cleans his neighbor’s driveway of snow, calls them when the weather is bad and asks if there is anything they need from the store. Theresa has made food for the neighbors many times and the good deeds have gone on for fourteen years.
Tony & Nicole Weers, Bellevue (Sarpy County)
Nicole, Tony and their family perform many caring deeds in the community without being asked. They trim their neighbor’s hedges, let her dog out, shovel her front steps and collect her mail whenever she is away.
